These 110V submersible sump pumps have a cast-iron body that helps dissipate heat as the pump drains water from sump pits. They are compatible with most standard U.S. residential electrical wall outlets and have a Type A (two prongs, ungrounded) or Type B (three prongs, grounded) power cord plug. Pumps have a painted or powder-coated finish to protect the body from corrosion.Submersible sump pumps drain water from basement sump pits and operate while completely underwater at the bottom of the sump pit. They are submerged in the water to cool the pump motors so they can run longer without overheating, compared to upright/pedestal sump pumps that have motors above the sump pit. Submersible pumps are electric-operated and have a pump body and pump motor combined into one unit. They have a switch that starts the pump motor when sump pit water rises to a certain height, then stops the pump motor when the water has drained down.
