The contents of this listing came from a small collection of military ephemera from the estate of Rosario (Russ) Fisichella.
Rosario (Russ) Fisichella was born in Red Hook, Brooklyn, New York, on May 10, 1918. He received his B.S. from Long Island University, NYC and his Doctor of Medicine from The Medical College of Wisconsin (Marquette University) in 1943. During World War II, he served in the European Theater of Operations. As a Captain in the U.S. Army under General Patton, he was blessed to have survived the Battle of the Bulge. After the war he returned to his OB/GYN practice in Monterey, CA. At 39, he returned to active duty as a Captain in the Navy. He played a pivotal role in establishing and commanding the first Naval hospital in Saigon during the Vietnam war. His military career ended in 1975 with Fisichella having earned 15 decorations including "The Legion of Merit.”
