Up for sale is a vintage 1998 GARMIN GPS 12 Personal Navigator with manual and quick reference guide. This device has been tested and appears to be working properly. It acquires GPS satellites and correctly reports the latitude and longitude of my location (Tulsa, OK) as well as the direction and distance to the default waypoint (Olathe, KS). It obtains the date and time from GPS satellites, but reports the date incorrectly (18 NOV 05 instead of 04 JUL 25) probably because Garmin didn't anticipate that this device would still be in use in 2025. The backlight seems a little dim to me, but if you were using it at night in the wilderness, you probably wouldn't want it ruin your night vision anyway. This device requires four AA batteries, which will provide up to 24 hours of continuous use.
