"Widget" adapter for refills for Sheaffer 1940s 1950s Stratowriter ballpoints

Machined Brass Adaptor, Use Current Refills in Early Sheaffer Ballpoints (Stratowriter, Fineline)

These adaptors were made in the 1990s as copies of a short-lived Sheaffer adaptor offered in the 1960s. The original Stratowriter series refills were introduced in 1946 and are long out of production, but these allow use of a standard Sheaffer "K" refill (other refills will fit too -- will try to compile a list as time permits). You will have to attach a spacer to the new refill's back end (not included, can easily be made by cutting the end off a standard international or Montblanc fountain pen refill cartridge; once made the spacer can be reused indefinitely). With some vintage Sheaffer ballpens you will screw the adapter in place, but in others such as the original all-metal Stratowriters the adapter simply slips over the front of the new refill. Usual disclaimer that only the adapter in the first photo is being sold, all the other illustrations are informational: original 1940s refill compared with "K" refill plus adapter; Stratowriter with adapter and "K" refill with spacer on end cut from a small Montblanc fountain pen ink cartridge.
