These old pieces came out of an estate sale that had many late 1800’s and early 1900’s items. This one is marked Coghlin43 (B. J. Coghlin Co. Limited - 1943) and CNR (Canadian National Railway) (see pictures).  The sledge hammer head weighs in at approximately 9 pounds / 8 ounces and is 7.5 inches long (see pictures).  It took a trip on the wire wheel then had a soak in a rust bath.  There was expensive “mushrooming” on the ends which was grinded away for the most part.  The faces were the only parts cleaned up prior to the body being cold blued (see pictures).  Would make a great addition to any old railroad tool collector's (re-enforced) shelf or hang it on a handle and use as intended.  Just not on a railroad... They have trained employees for that.
