Vintage militaria, WWII Airdrop box made by Meese Inc.
We are very pleased to be able to offer for your comnsideration this piece of vintage military hardware, a Meese Inc. insulated cargo box.
This WWII vintage Meese Inc. insulated cargo box we believe was used to store medical supplies. Meese made a great deal of Canvas products for the U.S. military. It has a heavy duty canvas cover with a four flap closure. The flaps are secured with ten leather straps and buckles. The inside is lined with tin, and between the canvas and tin liner there is a layer of cork, used for the insulation. On the outsides there are canvas webbing strap reinforcements that also make up the handles. The bottom is reinforced with a sheet of plywood.
This canvas cargo box measures approximately 27 inches wide, by 18 inches deep, by 22 inches tall, and weighs approximately 35 pounds.
Condition- The overall condition of this cargo box is good, it has collected some stains over the years, we counted three small tears in the exterior canvas, and the webbing shows some surface wear. The leather straps could use some oiling, or saddle soap. The original label has been partially torn away, so we have since covered it to prevent any further damage.
