Item Description  

Here is a nice antique Maggini Style Violin for your buying consideration. Would make a great gift or keep for yourself! 


There is no violin label in this violin.  Incised into the back for the scroll on the neck is Concert Violin Maggini.  So after the style of violins that Paolo Maggini made, not a real Maggini.  This is a 3/4 size violin.  This is a student level violin.  


Beautiful graining and finish on this violin   The pictures do not do justice to the beauty of this violin.  The violin has a one piece soundboard and two piece back.  Nice golden colored stain on the of the entire violin.   A crack on the belly where the sound post makes contact with it.  Cannot say if this hairline has been repaired or not.  Some very minor finish loss over the years to the body of the violin.  We see no repairs to the body of the violin, the neck or the scroll to report to you.  Some finish loss along the edges, belly, and on the back.   The beaks and top edge of the belly show wear and tear.


Nice double inlaid purfling f hole, and scroll work.  The corner blocks are in place.  The beaks look good.  The beaks and the sides of the violin show some finish loss from use.  The fingerboard has no ridging that would impede string play.  The four tuning pegs are in place. The soundboard and back are tightly glued to the sides, no separations to report.  The tuner box is intact, no cracks, splits or repairs.


The sound post is up inside the violin body.  No guarantee it will stay in position while being shipped to you.  Nice one piece belly and back on this fiddle.  We see no cracks or repairs on it to report.  The back's finish has a translucent look to it.  The double inlaid purfling is very nicely done. 


The violin strings are in place.   The chin rest, bridge, and tailpiece are with the violin.  Bridge is marked Aubert. Expect the violin should be restrung anyway if it has been sitting around for awhile. 


The violin is 22" long, by 7.5" across at the lower bout and 5-15/16" across at the upper bout.  The violin body is 13" long.  


The violin hard case is intact.  The latches work.  The legs on the bottom side of the case show some wear.  


This musical instrument is not represented to be in playing condition.  There may need to be refurbishing done to make this instrument playable again.  Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures.

Returns Policy

  • Returns are accepted by seller within 30 days of receipt of item where an item is not as described.  The Buyer will be assessed a 15% fee of the Item and Shipping Cost, and also 100% of both Shipping Costs should they decide to return this item for whatever the reason. 
  • Please note that this fee is charged to to cover costs related to the loss of listing time and other potential sales, plus the amount of care and time that goes into preparing our unique and fragile items for shipping. 
  • In accordance with eBay's Buyer Protection Program, the purchase price plus original shipping cost will be refunded to the buyer once the item has been received by the seller, minus the 15% fee plus both Shipping Costs as noted.
  • Buyer would pay for the return shipping cost and any applicable insurance cost (item is the buyer's financial responsibility until the item is safely returned to the seller by shipper).
