Vintage Swedish M39 Rucksack. Lightweight and comfortable for its day, these rucksacks are not only cool to look at but they are still usable. This one definitely fits that bill, as all the straps and buckles are present and working, and there are no rips or tears in the canvas. There are some issues though, which I will go through below.

The only notable damage that I could find is on the leather waist strap. There is a chunk missing, either torn or worn away. I included two photos of this, one of the front and one of the back of the strap. It's still solid and does all the things a waist strap should do otherwise.

This bag is old. I don't know how old (they started making these in 1939, hence the name, M39), but it shows plenty of wear and use. There are scuffs and scratches and stains over the whole bag, no matter whether it's the canvas or the leather or even the metal frame or buckles. One of the buckles has some surface rust. Some of the leather straps are cracked, most significantly one of the straps that hold down the top flap.

That being said, the sack has been cleaned inside and out. I also used a leather conditioner (Bick 4) on all the leather. The canvas is free of any rips or tears. Also, the drawstring for the main compartment was missing, so I replaced it with a modern piece of cord with a spring-loaded cord lock. This may not be period-correct, but it's great if you want to actually use the sack.
