The USSR Airborne Forces are the Airborne Forces of the Soviet Union. They were often called "winged infantry". It was an elite part of the army that performed complex combat missions: landing from the air, quickly capturing important objects, breaking through the enemy's rear, supporting other troops.

The Airborne Forces were created in the 1930s. Initially, they were small units that trained to jump with a parachute and act quickly after landing. Over time, the troops expanded and became a separate branch of the military.

The paratroopers were well-prepared physically and morally. They constantly trained: parachute jumping, hand-to-hand combat, shooting, marching, and actions in difficult conditions. The uniform - a blue beret and vest - became a symbol of pride and strength.

The main task of the Airborne Forces is to operate in places where it is difficult for regular troops to reach. They were dropped from airplanes into the enemy's rear to quickly seize bridges, headquarters, roads, and support combat operations in important areas.

After the collapse of the USSR, the airborne troops remained in the armies of the newly independent states.

The USSR airborne troops left behind a legend - as strong, brave and trained soldiers, ready to carry out any order in the most difficult conditions.
