This is a paper sewing pattern for a set of two bras based on a vintage lingerie set from a 1950s French magazine.
Version 1 is a basic 1950s bra with dart-fitted cups and a curved horizontal seam. The back may be finished with a purchased bra back, or with a hook and eye.
Version 2 is a long line bra with similar cups, but with an added corselet shape underneath to create smooth lines at the waist and provide added support. The closure may be added where desired to suit a range of needs. Both bras may be lined or have bias-bound edges, and ribbon or adjustable purchased straps may be used.

Patterns from the 1940s didn't have cup measurements. Instead, they used the full over-bust measurement (rather than your under-bust as in most modern bras). There are notations on the pattern that show where to add or subtract for a better fit around the breast, but other cup sizes aren't included in the pattern. Please measure your full over-bust before buying this pattern to make sure that it fits. Please do not message us with your bra size asking if the bra will fit you. We cannot answer that question - only your full over-bust measurement will provide the answer.

We recommend using non-stretch fabrics with this pattern, or fabrics with no more than 10% stretch included. Light to medium weight satins, soft cotton and rayon are wonderful with this pattern.
