VINTAGE RAYTHEON
SPARROW III MISSILE DESK MODEL FIRST FEASPAR TEST MAY 12 1965
For
sale is a rare Raytheon Sparrow III desk model. This item came from the estate
of a United States Navy Commander. His name has worn off as shown on base plate.
It looks something like “Cdr. C.J. Vogel”? I cannot make it out. The entire nameplate
reads “RAYTHEON Cdr. C.J. Vogel”? SPARROW III FIRST FEASPAR TEST MAY 12, 1965”. “Feaspar” <<< may be incorrect, that
what it looks like to me. If anyone knows exactly the correct test name, please
message me, so I can revise and update this listing. I want to be as accurate
as possible. The base dimensions measure approximately 6” x 3-3/4 x 3-1/2. I detected
a little crack on one of the rocket fins and looks like original owner of this
piece did a nice job of gluing it back together. See the close-up picture, the
last picture in this listing for the photo magnified picture. The rocket itself
measures 9” inches long. Tip of rocket measures 4-1/2” inches from desktop to rocket
tip. This item obviously has a nice history connection with a United States Navy Enlisted Naval Commander serviceman. I do not know how this piece is today, versus when it was produced,
so what you see today is exactly what you are purchasing. Overall, a nice clean
vintage Raytheon Sparrow III model that is 59+ years old.
