Offered for your consideration is one (1) vintage PIONEER PW-384A 15 inch woofer, manufactured in Japan in 1977. This woofer was removed from a large, walnut-clad PIONEER CS-63DX four-way, six-driver speaker. I believe it may have also been used in other PIONEER models from this period, but buyer is fully responsible for confirming that this is the correct woofer for their speaker.

This PIONEER woofer is in clean, excellent condition. The sturdy paper cone looks amazing with no blemishes and the voice coil dustcap is also flawless. Plus, the cast metal basket is in great shape and even the hard paper flange gasket sections are pretty much perfect.
Also, the cone suspension is edge-integral treated fabric—effectively permanent—instead of the non-durable foam surrounds in widespread use when this woofer was made. And, the very large ceramic-ferrite magnet structure has no oxidation or chips noted. Lastly, the +/- terminals are marked for polarity (red dot mark side is positive) and have never been soldered on the spades. Overall, this nearly 50 year-old woofer is remarkably well-preserved!
Most importantly, I’ve tested this woofer and it sounds great with strong, detailed low-end output. The AS-447 speakers were rated to 80 watts per channel, so this is a rugged bass driver. Plus, I tested its DC resistance at 5.1Ω, consistent with a nominal 6-8 ohm driver rating. Also, the basket proper, not including protruding lobes, measures 15⅛” in diameter and stands 5¼” tall (measured sitting with cone facing the ceiling).
Lastly, there are two sets of mount holes on the frame, offering mounting flexibility. The six (6) outer mounting points are equally spaced 7⅞” apart, center-to-center, while the eight (8) inner holes are spaced 5⅝” apart, c-t-c.
So, as pictured and described, this exceptional PIONEER PW-384A 15” woofer is offered at a competitive price.
