Vintage McDonald’s Painting By Dick Locher Commissioned By Ray Kroc Early 60’s.
Dick Locher was a famous cartoonist that helped ink the famous Dick Tracey Sunday cartoon. Won a Pulitzer Prize for editorial cartooning in 1983.
Graduated with honors from Chicago academy of fine arts.
Helped Ray Kroc in designing characters for McDonald’s roughly in the early 1960’s which is when Kroc originally wanted Norman Rockwell to commission this work, Rockwell for some reason wasn’t able to and that’s how Dick Locher got the job. Two versions of this painting were created, one with an African-American girl, and this one with a young boy, both are extremely rare and very sought after.
Only a hand full are know to exist.
Painted was purchased over 25 years ago, in pretty nice condition, I’d recommend having it professionally cleaned but I love the vintage look.
Please see the many photos attached and feel free to ask questions, thank you for your time.
