VINTAGE FRENCH 'LA MARSEILLAISE' HAIR TREATMENT FOR LICE/NITS/DANDRUFF
LOOKS AND DISPLAYS GREAT!
This week on eBay, we are offering up this beautiful, vintage French hair tonic and scalp treatment container with a fantastic paper label.
'La Marseillaise' Hair & Scalp Treatment for Lice, Nits and Dandruff.
This hair tonic container looks terrific and displays great.
The illustration of the young woman on the lid is amazing, with her long flowing beautiful hair.
Great lithography!
The French lettering and lithography adds a cool, classic, timeless look. The colors are also fantastic;
red, white and blue, the colors of both the French and American flags. The colors are still vibrant, with no fading of the reds.
I’m not sure of the age of this container. It does have significant age to it, but I suspect it is purposely designed and made to look slightly older than it truly is.
My old 'high school' French is a little rough, but basically the French wording on the lid says that this is a hair and scalp treatment specifically for 'nits, lice, and dandruff' and that it leaves your hair 'thick, luscious and clean'.
"mode d'emploi a l'interieur" means 'see the instructions inside', but there's nothing inside or printed under the lid.
"assure une prompte disparition des poux, lentes pellicules" means that it quickly eliminates Lice, Nits and Dandruff.
The rest of the text says that this 'tonic' cleans your hair of Grime and Filth, leaving a beautiful head of hair, just like what you see on the woman on the lid's paper label.
The size is perfect for display; a little over 3 inches in diameter and about 1 1/2 inches deep. The bottom of the container is blank and not printed.
CONDITION: The condition is generally very nice, showing only minor signs of wear consistent with it's age.
This container is still nice and round, no dents. The lid fits snuggly and the container still opens easily. The interior is clean and perfect for storing small beauty supplies, or other items, inside.
Note that there is a small label 'scuff' and tear on the lid, over the young woman’s chest, revealing the cardboard underneath, but it doesn’t really affect the overall look and appearance of this great container.
This hair tonic package displays beautifully. It has a great image, bold, vibrant, un-faded colors, beautiful French lettering, nice graphics and is a perfect size for display.
This would look fantastic in a collection of perfume & toiletry containers, or vintage medicine tins & bottles. It would also look great, just by itself, sitting on a shelf and adding some vintage charm to your bathroom.
I’m listing this old French Hair tonic container with a low opening bid. I just want to pass it on to someone who thinks it’s as cool and beautiful as I do, and who would like to add it to their collection.
