Offered for your consideration is one (1) vintage Foster part #49-1168 horn tweeter, manufactured in Japan in 1971. This venerable tweeter design was also used by Cerwin-Vega and several other U.S. and foreign speaker manufacturers in the early-to-mid 1970’s.

So, please have a look at my large photos and read the remaining description to decide if this capable Foster high frequency driver is correct for your speaker.

This Foster tweeter is in clean, excellent condition. The black plastic assembly has no cracks or real scratches, just a few tiny faceplate marks as pictured. Plus, the orange phenolic radiating surface has been well-protected resting deep in the horn throat, so it’s perfect. And, the Zenith bullet-style +/- terminals have never been soldered on the spades. Overall, this horn tweeter is in great shape.

Most importantly, it has been fully tested and sounds very strong and clear, with excellent detail and none of the harshness often associated with large metal horns. Plus, I tested its DC resistance at 9.0Ω, consistent with the low end of a nominal 16 ohm driver rating. Lastly, the flange measures 3 7/16” square, it stands about 2¼” tall, and the mount holes are spaced 2½” adjacent / 3⅝” diagonal apart, c-t-c.

As pictured and described, this outstanding Foster horn tweeter is offered at a competitive price.
