Vintage NOS Hungerford Flex-grip Rubber Bicycle Handlebar Grips in Black. One pair, two grips total. They measure 5" long with an approximately 1" inner diameter. The 1952 patent for these (U.S. Pat. 2.618.986), indicates that the primary use of these grips was for bicycles, but they were also used for lawnmowers and other implements. We show the exact measurements in the photographs to help determine fitment. New Old Stock from a closed-down bicycle shop. Excellent unused condition, as shown. Installation Tip: When installing new old stock vintage grips, I recommend placing them in a window that receives sunlight or warming them up slightly using a hairdryer. This will help you to fit them onto the handlebars with ease.

The “Flex-grip” inscription on this black vinyl bicycle handlebar grip was introduced and trademarked by the Hungerford Plastics Corp. in 1949. Daniel C. Hungerford organized this firm as a research and development company in New Jersey, in 1942. After a reorganization in 1946, the Hungerford Plastics Corp. built a factory in New Jersey and began manufacturing vinyl products.
