Offered for your consideration is a vintage Electro-Voice OEM specification number 810 4475 12 inch woofer, USA-manufactured in 1965. This heavy, cast-basket woofer was original equipment in a Knight KN-2300A speaker. It was also used in the Electro-Voice EV-Two and possibly other speakers.
As you likely know, Electro-Voice was a leading driver supplier to the domestic speaker industry from the 1950’s through the late 70’s and also made their own speakers. Electro-Voice rarely used the 649 source code assigned to them by the EIA since they were a “non-member.” But, it’s a near-certainty that the 550 stamped on the flange gasket is an EIA-format date code showing manufacture in the 50th week of 1965.

This Electro-Voice woofer is in clean, excellent condition. The sturdy, deep set paper cone is structurally perfect with only a couple smudges of factory assembly adhesive on the cone while the large, hard paper voice coil dustcap is flawless, as pictured. Plus, the accordion-style surround is permanent textile and is in great shape as well. Also, the cast basket has no dings, scratches, or blemishes. And, the +/- input terminals are keyed for polarity (red gasket side is positive) and have never been soldered on the spades. Overall, this burly Electro-Voice woofer is exceptionally well preserved!
Most importantly, it’s been fully tested and sounds very strong with clear, detailed lower midrange and stout bass response. Plus, I tested its DC resistance at 3.6-3.8Ω, consistent with a nominal 4 ohm driver rating. Lastly, the basket flange measures 12¼” in diameter, it stands 6¾” tall, and the four mounting holes are spaced 8⅛” adjacent / 11⅝” on the diagonal apart, c-t-c.
