This come-along works perfectly. Twist the T handle and the claw opens. Twist it closed and it clamps on the wrist. When tight, you turn the knurled nut to lock it in position. Rotate the nut open to allow the T handle to open the claw. Very effective and when the guard or arresting officer said "COME ALONG", there was no question as to who had the upper hand. Thus 'the iron claw' name. In many respects it reminds me of the bull rings we used to put in a bulls nose that was attached to a rope. That come-along worked well for 1500# bulls too.
Excellent patina and works well. There is a portion of the nut on the back side that is damaged. But, this is 100% in working order. I like to think the piece broke off when John Dillinger was arrested in Bluffton, OH in 1933... he was a tough one and who knows... maybe?
