This is at least a century old spun-over 5 string banjo. It once had 38 hooks & brackets, but that was reduced to 20 hooks sometime in the past.

The removed bracket holes are filled with brass components.

The 10 1/2 inch diameter rim has a nice old skin on it. The banjo is about 36 inches long and has a 26 1/2 inch scale.

It’s got new Gotoh aged nickel planetary geared tuners; very functional and easy to work.

There are position markers on the side of the neck. The action is incredibly low; there’s no buzzing.

The neck is positioned high above the rim, giving extra thumb plucking room for Old Time Clawhammer playing. The neck is straight.

This old banjo is great for playing Old Time tunes on. It “rings”.

The tailpiece is a raw brass No Knot and it’s got a new .65” ebony/maple bridge. It’s got a nice old nickel plated brass armrest on it. The frets are lightly dressed and are in good condition.

New Martin-Vega medium strings are on it.

Look at the pictures closely and evaluate the overall condition of the banjo.

Thanks for looking.
