This is a smooth, sweet old Montblanc fountain pen from 1984-1989 just before serial numbers but after the solid feed.
It has a very gentle, soft vibe and is lighter weight and a little slimmer (before they had brass interiors) than the current 144 Classique models.
It has a pop off not screw on cap and the converter is the same.

It measures 117 mm nip to snowpeak
135.52 mm when closed.
10.67 mm is widest point on barrel.
The nib on this is 14k old style nib that isn't 2 tone. It measures 0.88mm and writes for me like a chonky fine but not all the way to medium. I am not good at grading nibs so perhaps measure your favorites? I really enjoy writing with this pen and would absolutely keep it if it weren't duplicating things I have. This is a silky sweetheart that shows low use to the nib itself.
This pen presents nicely but if you look very closely it also has had a long life already on the exterior: It has been carried in a purse and under 30x loupe shows abundant scuffing all over. The cap band imprints are brassed to the point of being hard to read. With this era there is often pitting around the section band near the nib and this pen shows some too. In addition the converter is stained and there is a stable but fine crack below the snowpeak towards the clip-- just don't overtighten the screw there again and it's stable. Pentooling has $30-40 replacements but this is a pen for someone who wants a sweet vintage writer not a show-off pen. Let's say Montblanc on a budget :)
The writing sample photo is written with this pen and Private Reserve ink on cheap notebook paper.

This is absolutely not a knockoff but an original. It is from a fellow pen-nut neighbor who passed away recently and I'm listing quite a bit of Montblanc ink and a rollerball pen as well in other auctions-- the pic of my listing table shows the pile going up today. If you would like to combine shipping with other items please just let me know BEFORE you pay. Thank you!
