This item is an antique piece of firefighting gear thqt was given the unique name 'Clack Board'. Jack Clack was an early ranger and Forest Supervisor on the Flathead National Forest, and designed the "Clack board" in 1908, an early external frame pack for hauling firefighting and other supplies. And while not comfortable, and certainly not ultralight, these packs were used in the Northern Region through the 1950s. This one hangs on the wall at Spotted Bear Ranger Station with other memorabilia from the Flathead National Forest's long history. This is a beautiful piece with over a century of history fighting fires all over the northwestern hemisphere.  It's a wonderful conversation piece, an eye-catching wall hanger and would complement your home, office or man-cave in a really good way. It's a great Forest Service Fire Fighting collectible!
