This is an ol oil-varnished Vajrayogini Newari Pauva/Paubha Thangka painting. The Vajrayoginī is a Tantric female Buddha a meditational deity. Vajrayogini is a prominent deity in Tibetan Buddhism and Vajrayana Buddhism. Vajrayogini is often regarded as a principal figure in the yogini or dakini tradition, symbolizing the enlightened female principle.

Newari Paubha painting is a traditional style of scroll painting that originated in the Newar community of Nepal. These intricate and colorful paintings are typically used for religious and ritualistic purposes, depicting various deities, scenes from Hindu and Buddhist mythology, and other cultural and religious motifs.

Oil-varnished Thangkas are a variation of traditional Thangka paintings. Thangkas are intricate and sacred Tibetan Buddhist paintings typically done on cloth or silk, often used for meditation, teaching, and ritual purposes. While traditional Thangkas are usually painted using mineral pigments and sometimes gold leaf, oil-varnished Thangkas incorporate oil-based paints and varnish into the process.
