You are bidding on an 8 x 10 black and white photograph of the USS Kidd , DDG 993, the Destroyer which served in the United States Navy from 1981 to 1998.
The Kidd began her life at the Ingalls Shipbuilding yards on 26 June 1978 as the Imperial Iranian Naval Ship Kouroush. She was launched on 11 August 1979 and after the Iranian Revolution was taken over by the US Navy. She was commissioned into the United States Navy on 27 June 1981 as the USS Kidd, after the WWII Flag Officer killed on the USS Arizona at Pearl Harbor.
Designed and built for the very hot middle east climate she spent most of her service in the Mediterranean and the Persian Gulf.
After 17 years of service she was decommissioned on 12 March 1998. She was sold to the Republic of China ( Taiwan ) and was renamed ROCS Tsoying DDG 1803.
Her proud name was revived in 2007, with the commissioning of the third KIDDED, DDG 100, the Arleigh Burke Class guided missile destroyer.
