Sunflowers (Helianthus annuus), reaching heights of 4 to 5 feet, are highly favored in wildlife food plots for their value to deer, turkey, and various wildlife species. Their abundant seeds not only provide essential nourishment for mammals but also serve as prized bird feed, enriching habitats and promoting biodiversity in ecosystems.
Planting Instructions:
Choose a location with full sun and well-draining soil.
Prepare the soil by loosening it and removing any weeds.
Sow seeds directly outdoors after the last frost, planting them 1 inch deep and 6-12 inches apart.
Water the area gently and consistently until germination, which usually occurs in 7-10 days.
Provide support for tall plants, if needed, and water as necessary during dry periods.
