The 2 orings (each a different size) inside the reel allow you to spin the reel without leaking water. When these oring seals wear out water starts leaking.
If your garden hose connections are tight and you don't have cracks from winter freeze then it's probably the o-rings.These new seals are the same wear-resistant rubber and sizes that came from the factory.
