Here is a good used Starrett USA "Fay"spring-type heavy duty outside caliper in the 6" size. The old part No. is 75B-6. This pair has a quick-spring nut for quick positive adjustments. This type of caliper is no longer made by Starrett. It works great and there are no engravings on it, just 1 small grind mark for owner identification as the photo with the pointer shows. There are a few stain spots on it from age and where it was cleaned with a Scotchbrite pad at some time. A little note on this vintage type:
"Starrett "Fay" calipers and dividers are extremely rugged in construction. The legs are made from heavy square stock and machined to a smooth taper. The fulcrum stud is hardened and has an exceptionally large bearing surface to prevent side deflection of the legs."
