Stanley No 4-1/2, 5, 5-1/2, 6, 7 & 8 Type 9 Hand Plane Tote Template Set Inspired by Dave Corinth
I started talking with Dave Corinth in November last year (2024) about offering Stanley Knob and Tote templates to our vintage equipment restoration customers. Dave said "I think that's a great idea" and here we are 7 months later with the first set of a series
The template in this listing was modeled from a No 5 Type 9 Tote. It can also be used to assist in making totes for other types however there are some subtle differences to be aware of from type to type. For example, the angle of the hole that the stud passes through can vary from 26 to 30 degrees and the horn length can also vary as depicted in the photos above
If you have a router table and a ~0.970in. bullnose bearing router bit. (Dave uses the Lee Valley 16J4010 adjustable round-over router bit) This template set will assist you in making your own replacement totes
