Holy Medal on Chain
Beautiful, new 7/8" oval die cast, silver-plated St Sebastian holy medal, which is made in Italy, with a beautiful image of St Sebastian on the front and "Protect Us" on the back. The medal comes on a 24" continuous stainless steel chain, which is easy to slip on and off over most size heads.
Comes gift boxed and with a full-color St Sebastian prayer card which has prayers, images and a list of patronages of this popular saint. A gift bag and tissue paper are also included so your medal comes all ready to give as a gift.
St Sebastian was the son of a wealthy Roman family and was captain of the guard in the Roman Imperial Army. A favorite of the emperor Diocletian, he kept his conversion to Christianity secret for as long as he could, visiting imprisoned Christians during the emperor's persecutions of them; bringing them food and comfort. He converted a governor and many soldiers, and it is said he healed a brother soldier's wife by making the Sign of the Cross over her. Eventually he was charged as a Christian, and was sentenced to death. Tied to a tree and shot with arrows, he survived and was healed with the help of Saint Irene. He recovered and boldly returned to Diocletian and tried to convert him, unsuccessfully, and he was beaten to death. He has many patronages besides that of all sports - police officers and soldiers, athletes and gunsmiths, archers, book binders, cattle, gardeners, hardware stores, masons, ironmongers, and protection against plague and diseased cattle.
The prayer cards which come with our rosaries, medals
and pictures are home-made, created using a "greeting card" program
on a computer and printed in full color on nice quality paper. Although they
are not like the usual smaller professionally printed prayer cards, most of our
customers prefer them since they are like a pamphlet with 4 "pages"
and several images, prayers, patronages and often other information about the
saint or Catholic devotion.
