From the Estate of Sonny Terry
Sonny Terry Estate LLC
My name is Tom Halchak.
I am the Owner of Blue Moon Harmonicas LLC based in Clearwater, FL
USA. I am very easy to find on the
internet and/or Facebook. Just search
for Blue Moon Harmonicas. For the past 9
years, I have been acting as an Authorized Agent for Sonny Terry Estate
LLC. Working closely with his estate, we have
worked diligently to preserve, honor and respect Sonny and his music. We have facilitated the establishment of a
permanent Sonny Terry Exhibit at the German Harmonica and Accordion Museum in
Trossingen, Germany. We have gifted
numerous harmonicas from Sonny’s personal collection to various artists,
teachers and authors who have helped keep Sonny’s music alive via their
playing, teaching and books. We thank
them and appreciate their work. We were
directly involved with Hohner Harmonicas in the development of the Sonny Terry
Heritage Edition Marine Band Harmonica. And
we have been able to offer, to Sonny Terry fans worldwide, a broad variety of
items which they have purchased for their own private collections. These items include an assortment of
harmonicas that Sonny performed and recorded with, posters which promoted live
performances over his 50+ year career, original ACA Contracts, Performance
Apparel, harmonica cases and belts, and more.
Until now, the estate items were sold exclusively and
directly through my website. In the
interest of gaining access to a wider audience, we will be listing items for
sale on eBay at reduced prices. Most of
the items will be auctioned to the highest bidder with No Reserve. A few will have Reserve prices
established. Whenever necessary,
Certificates of Authenticity from Sonny Terry Estate LLC will be included. In addition, documents establishing Provenance
are easily downloadable if you visit my website.
Item #49
Hohner Golden Melody
Key of B
Original Box Not Included
This is one of the harmonicas that the estate sent to Adam Gussow for appraisal. His notes are as follows: B "Golden Melody". Broken (screw out) + wood scratched. (Note: I have replaced the missing screw)
This Golden Melody is a prize. If desireability is at all determined by how extensively the harmonica was played by Sonny, this is as good as it gets. Joe Filisko told me that B was Sonny's favorite key. That's a great start. This harmonica shows signs of heavy use. The covers are tarnished from Sonny's hands and mouth and it looks beat up. The comb shows significant wear from rubbing against a microphone and one of the cover pins in missing. Highly collectible.
The harmonica will be shipped in an attractive shadow box display case, and will include an individually signed Certificate of Authenticity.
