This Scrimshaw paperweight with a clock was likely sold by The Nantucket Historical Association Museum. Scrimshaw is the art of engraving on ivory or bone, a practice done by whalers. This piece features a functional clock , engravings of Lighthouses and a nautical rope design. There are compass marks around the edge and a real maritime historical feel. It is a reproduction scrimshaw on eco-ivory that is a high quality resin that mimics actual ivory. This piece was made in Massachusetts.
This is in very nice condition and is 3" in diameter , a nice weight and leather like bottom.
