SANSEVIERIA (DRACAENA) PINGUICULA, Beautiful Succulent, Kenya, Great Plant!!!

$19.99

The genus Sansevieria (now Dracaena) contains a number of unusual and beautiful species. Perhaps one of the most unusual is S. pinguicula, the "Walking Sansevieria," so named because of its unusual habit of putting out long stolons that produce new plants more than a foot away from the previous growth. The growths bear stiff, upright, succulent leaves and are supported by sturdy stilt-like roots that hold the plant several inches above the ground.

Sansevieria pinguicula occurs in arid regions of Kenya at elevations near sea level and requires consistently warm conditions to thrive. I grow it in a location that receives direct sun during the morning and bright indirect light during the remainder of the day, with minimum temperatures of 60-65 deg F. This species grows nicely in a potting mix that drains very well and doesn't stay too soggy. I use a mixture of pumice, perlite and peat.

This beautiful species is very desirable, easy to grow, and will grace any plant collection. The first two photos show the succulent, upright leaves of a mature plant. You are bidding on the plant in photos 3-4, about 7" tall from the top of the pot to the tip of the longest leaf and well established in a 5.25" pot. The plant will be unpotted carefully and shipped bare root to reduce the weight of the package.
