Sango reliquary figure with basket from Gabon. Copper sheeting over the face with copper bands below the eyes and wrapped around the neck. The eyes look to me to be large buttons and there are remains of feathers at the top of the head. Free hanging leather straps are attached around the bottom of the neck. It seems a circular hole was intentionally cut in the bottom of the basket and then repaired, presumably to remove whatever bones the basket contained. I took that as a sign of authenticity. Some broken and missing slats on the basket, otherwise good condition. Approximately 18" tall and 11" at widest part of basket. Sorry, no international buyers, shipping only to USA.
