As far as collecting the elements go the only thing that is remarkable about samarium is that it's the cheapest of the fifteen in the rare earths group to acquire. Its one major application is for making strong magnets when alloyed with cobalt. We stock pure samarium in the form known as “dendrites” which exhibit a thoroughly fascinating bark-like texture and is also a mark of their high level of purity.
Note that when freshly made samarium is a dazzling white as pictured but over time darkens a bit due to tarnishing. However, the metal retains its luster.
