This rare artifact is a Pre-Columbian Tripod Bowl from Nayarit, Mexico, dating back to 100 BC to 500 AD. This 5 1/2 " bowl has a fret design etched around the rim and in the bowl. The bowl is made of pottery, possibly by the Cora Tribe, and measures 5 1/2" in width and 2 3/4" in height. It weighs 9 oz and was part of Dr. Earl B Reddick's collection. The bowl is brown in color and showcases Latin American cultural influence. Very beautiful authentic artifact. Fantastic piece for the avid collector who collects dated materials and artifacts. Great piece for the asking price.
This piece was appraised by Dr. Frederick J Dockstader in 1977. Director of the Museum of the American Indian, Heye Foundation.
