Rare 18thC Map America Plan of Port Royal Carolina Herman Moll 1739 Dublin The map states port royal harbour lies 20 leagues from Ashley river s.w it has a bold entrance 19 or 20 foot at low waters harbour is large safe and commodious and runs into ye best country in Carolina. Here ye air is always clear and agreeable to European constitutions it flows 9 foot. This is a well known map showing one of the earliest detailed plans of an American port, showing the area of Beaufort Town, Hilton Head, Phillips Point and Elizabeth Point, all marked on the map. Map is by By Herman Moll and Published in 1739 from the book Modern History or the present state of all nations vol. V part II being a continuation of the present state of America printed by George Grierson Dublin and dates 1739. Size Approximately 14” by 9” printed area is 10.5” by 8” Condition Good condition Map has some minor edge wear and there are a couple of creases down it with some light foxing.
