Post WWII Swiss Army dog tag / ID Tag, Erkennungsmarke, nicknamed by the Servicemen as "Grabstein" (Tombstone). The dog tag is made out of stainless steel and bears on the frontside the soldiers Army Serial Number (ASN) which is at the same time his Social Security Number (SSN). The SSN contains his encrypted Name, Year of Birth and Birthdate. Until the 1960's it also contains his religion. The tag bears the soldiers Name, First Name, Date of Birth, Religion and Place of Origin and Blood Type. On the backside is a swiss cross and the letters CH = Confideratio Helveticae (in Latin) = Swiss Confederation.
