The successful Republican presidential ticket for the 1876 election consisted of Ohio Governor Rutherford B. Hayes for President and New York Representative William A. Wheeler for Vice President. They narrowly defeated the Democratic ticket consisting of New York Governor Samuel J. Tilden for President and Indiana Governor Thomas A. Hendricks for Vice President. This is a superb medal issued in support of the Rutherford campaign.
