A set of 2 (two) plastic inserts (bushings) for Douglas Swivel/Tilt Mechanisms.
Fit pipes (tubing) with a diameter of 1" (one inch). The outside diameter of the bushings (across the top) is 1 3/4". The length is 4 1/8".

- PLEASE NOTE! The bushings are already greased. The grease is needed for better contact with the chair base.
Assembly Instructions
- Remove old bushings
- Soak the new bushings in hot/boiling water for ≈20 (twenty) seconds BEFORE installing in order to soften the bushings
- Pop the bushings in with a rubber mallet

Frustrating!
The package arrived 2 days late but likely due to heavy snow in our area. My biggest complaints are the inserts are too brittle and are easily broken while installing. There are no installation instructions. I found a video on YouTube and tried their method but still broke inserts. Finally, I soaked them in hot water which softened them a bit and was able to install without breakage.

Mission Accomplished
Can’t complain, because they were the first replacements that I found in years that I could make work. They seemed to be just a little to tight to fit into the opening, but if anyone else runs into the same issue, it was nothing that could not be resolved with a Dremmel Tool with a sanding drum on it. Once that was done, the two broken swivel chairs now work like new.

The dimensions aren't as exact as the original ones I have. It was a really tight fit to install. Had to moderately drive it in. It's not coming out easily if necessary. Works well so far.

Thank You caster chair company for supplying these! You just saved us a bundle of $$. A friend of ours helped us replace the 15 year old swivel and tilt mechanism because he had done the same to his Douglas dinette chairs. So if you love your good ole comfortable Douglas chairs and they are wobbling now, purchase these for $33.99!(4) We're so glad we didn't have to buy a new set because they don't make them as nice as these anymore! NOTE:The third party supplier had written a note in the bag. " Put in boiling water for 20 seconds before install." This really worked because it softened the hard plastic before you had to slide it on the chair's metal rod. Do one at a time.

Quality before price!
This part kept chairs on the level for an ancient (1994) kitchen set we purchased from Sear's. Once I was given the secret of heating them in boiling water before insertion the job was a snap. That information was provided by someone at HTCSTORES and I thank them profusely! I have ruined probably 8 of these inserts trying to replace before.

As good or better than the original for our 25 year old Douglas chairs.
The original inserts in our Douglas chairs tend to wear an increased inner diameter (where the metal shaft goes) over the years and the chairs become unstable. Only one was dangerously tippy at this point and replacement was necessary on that chair ASAP. I ordered a set of 4 because of the price point although just the one needed replacement at this time. These are as good or better than the OEM inserts. Heed the hint of putting the replacement in boiling water to soften it-- it will drive in easily with a mallet.

Needed a little help to fit.
Bought 2 of these to replace broken inserts on patio chairs. I've replaced the inserts before (same size as these) and had no problems. With these, they were a bit of a problem. I dont know if these were factory seconds or not, but the first plastic ring that goes down into the chair base was too big - the insert would not slide in, or even pound in. I had to use a utility knife to trim the insert a little all the way around before it would fit into the chair base, allowing me to pound it the rest of the way in with a rubber mallet (pounding these in is normal for these inserts - they must fit tightly to prevent seat wobble). After trimming that first ring, they fit fine - no wobble at all. The swivel action is REALLY tight though, which wasn't my experience with previous set I replaced. I'm hoping that it will loosen a bit as the chairs are used. Minus one star for having to trim and the tight swivel action, but not that big a deal, really. Shipping speed was good, and they work, so it's all good.
