This is a Phoenix steel frame and aluminum component mountain bicycle suitable for trails, city commuting or country touring. This is an extremely rare early mountain bike and is solidly built. You will not find another one like this. This is not the Chinese Phoenix brand that makes bikes. The emblems and badging are completely different. This is an older vintage USA made Phoenix bicycle that was made in very small quantities. The original forest green paint is in great condition with some faint patina. The downtube decals and front emblem are still intact and look great.
This bicycle is in excellent condition, and everything works properly. It has short rise handlebars, new brake pads, new tubes, and puncture resistant street tires. The brake levers are very solid and stop the bike exceptionally well. Included reflectors keep you visible and safe at night. A removable kickstand has been added for your convenience.
The ride is rugged and quiet. The bike has been meticulously refurbished and detailed. The handgrips feel great. The headset, bottom bracket, and wheels have all had their bearings serviced and packed with new grease by a professional bicycle mechanic who knows and loves these fine machines. Aluminum alloy quick release 26" wheels spin freely and are perfectly true. The chain is clean and lubricated. Large wide pedals are original. Front and rear Shimano derailleurs have been cleaned and fine tuned. Thumb-shifter friction shifting and centerpull cantilever braking work flawlessly. This is a rare and great looking vintage bike!
This bike can be used many ways. It is a great mountain bike and also a fantastic commuter bike because it is rugged and is equipped with street tires. Save $$$ on gas by not using any!! Braze-ons are included, so you can add fenders, racks, or baskets to get groceries or carry a briefcase. It is easy to put on a bus or train and fits on bike racks if you use metro. If you just want to ride fast and far, you can pedal your brains out. It's an all around great bicycle! Don't hesitate to buy this beautiful vintage bike because it is the only one like this that I have for sale. If shipped, the bike will arrive carefully and professionally packaged in a quality bicycle box. The front wheel, seat, and pedals will be removed from the bike but located in the box. The handlebars will be either removed or rotated at the headset to fit in the box. The shifters and brake cables will remain intact. Tires will be slightly deflated to absorb shipping activity. Reassembly is simple with common tools.
