Peppermint (Mentha × piperita) is a vigorous herb native to Europe, believed to be a natural hybrid of watermint and spearmint. It's renowned for its cool, refreshing menthol flavor and aroma, widely used in teas, desserts, and herbal remedies. The plant has dark green, serrated leaves and purplish flower spikes, thriving in moist, well-drained soil and partial to full sun. Although it spreads rapidly from cuttings and roots, starting from seed can be more challenging. To improve germination, lightly press seeds onto the surface of moist soil without covering them, as they need light to sprout, and maintain consistent moisture and temperatures around 65–75°F. Its most notable features are its bold flavor, medicinal versatility, and spreading growth habit, making it a staple in herb gardens

***Peppermint seeds are as tiny as sand. Seed counts can be visually deceptive. I always give more than advertised because of this. Please count out before you contact me

Sprouting can be difficult - see quick guide below:

Cold stratify seeds in the fridge for 1–2 weeks (optional but boosts germination).
Start indoors 8–10 weeks before last frost. Use a seed tray or small pots.
Surface sow seeds – press into moist seed-starting mix but do not cover (needs light to germinate).
Keep warm (65–75°F) and moist. Use a humidity dome or plastic wrap.
Germination takes 10–21 days.
Transplant outdoors after frost in partial to full sun, spacing 12–18" apart.

Germination in 10-24 days, maturity in 75 days

Collected: 1/25

Germination: 80%
