I'm not a professional railroadiana dealer or collector -- I'm just a guy who's dealing with his late father's estate. Today, you are bidding on lot #s 587 and 592 -- a demitasse cup and saucer set from the Pennsylvania Railroad, in the "Allegheny" design, made by Wright, Tyndale & Van Roden. The demitasse cup measures approximately 2 7/8" wide (from handle to opposite rim), 2" deep, and stands approximately 2 1/8" tall. The saucer measures approximately 4 3/8" in diameter. Both pieces feature a "Made for the Penn R. R. by Wright, Tyndale & Van Roden" / "Philadelphia" / "Austria" stamp on the bottom. The date of manufacture is unknown.
These pieces are in excellent condition: they have no visible chips, cracks, or crazing. The saucer has a few very light surface scratches (which are only visible on close inspection) and a couple of pinprick defects in the glaze; the demi cup has some wear to the gold leaf on the handle. On a scale of 1 to 5 (with 1 being "mint condition"), I would rate both of these items a 2.
Please note -- I have not had these items authenticated; and while I believe them to be genuine PRR pieces, I make no guarantees as to their authenticity. Please use your best judgment in deciding whether to bid on these items!
I'm flexible with shipping! Don't see a shipping option you want? Want to take advantage of combined shipping? Just let me know before paying for your items!
Thanks, and happy bidding!
