The FMD Fixture Module Dimmer is a two channel high quality wire-in home automation light dimmer which is capable of transmitting and receiving digital commands and status over the existing powerlines.
The FMD is the ideal solution to controlling incandescent lights or fixtures that need to be individually controlled or are not currently wired to a dedicated wall switch location.
Operation
Each channel Pre-set on level may be programmed between 0% and 100%. Sixteen different fade rates can be selected – from instant-on to one hour – to give you ultimate flexibility in controlling how fast the lights fade on or off. The dimmer function can also be disabled, turning it into a switch, to allow the FMD to turn on and off non-dimmable loads such as fluorescent lights and motors. Simply mount the FMD on any standard electrical box by snapping it into a standard 1/2" knockout. The module can either mount outside of the box or it resides inside of the box. Use standard wire-nuts to connect the FMD2 to line and neutral and the loads.
Receives From the Powerline
The FMD2 will accept powerline commands from any UPB-compatible transmitter such as the PulseWorx Keypad Controllers, Timed Event Controller, Interface Modules, Approved Third-Party Controllers, Touch Screens, and WS1s. Each channel of the FMD2 can be a member of up to 16 Links/Scenes with the capability to store a pre-set level from 0% to 100% and one of 16 fade rates (Snap to 1 hour) for each scene. Each pre-set light level can easily be adjusted by the homeowner using the innovative PulseWorx manual programming method.
Ceiling Fans/Lights
With two separate control channels, the FMD is perfect for certain ceiling fans with lights combinations and provide as much as 400W of power at any one time split between the two channels.
Easy To Configure
Like all PulseWorx devices, the FMD-2 can be initially configured using PCS’s free UPStart Setup Software tool. UPStart enables configuring such parameters as Network Name, Network ID, Unit ID, Room name, Device name, default on light levels, fade rates, LED colors, dimming disable, auto shut-off time, etc. as well as test the operation and communication strength of the device. UPStart has the option to configure an entire network off-line and then download the information into the devices after they are installed in the home.
