Antique BLOAT COMPOUND veterinary bottle w/ Cannabis Sativa

A 7 3/4 inch tall rectangular-shaped light TURQUOISE AQUA MARINE colored antique VETERINARY MEDICINE bottle that is both EMBOSSED and has the ORIGINAL FULL PAPER LABEL, a label on each side.  The label lists one of the ingredients as CANNABIS ( cannibus ) SATIVA = known more commonly today as MARIJUANA.  This is an ORIGINAL ANTIQUE cork-top bottle, dating back ca. early 1900, over a century old.

  • Bottle embossed:  "Rawleigh's / TRADE MARK - W.T. RAWLEIGH CO. - FREEPORT, ILL."

  • Label reads in part:   "Rawleigh's ... COLIC &  BLOAT COMPOUND ... USEFUL FOR HORSES AND CATTLE ... 90 % ALCOHOL ... This Prepration Contains ... 9.43 % Cannibus Sativa (known today as MARIJUANA) ... 19.23 % Belladonna Root ... POISON ... THE W.T. RAWLEIGH CO. Freeport, Ill., U.S.A."  The word "POISON" is in LARGE RED LETTERS along with 2 SKULL and CROSSBONE images!

  • Condition:   Bottle is in good solid condition.  It has some traces of age wear and content stain, NO cracks, chips, dings, damage, etc.  The main label has a section of the lower left border missing and some other tattering but other label is complete.  Both labels are 100 % FULLY LEGIBLE!  PLEASE see pictures for best idea of bottle and label's overall appearance and condition.

  • Age:  An ORIGINAL ANTIQUE mold-blown (ABM) bottle with a cork-top, ca. early 1900's.

A hard to find antique veterinary bottle with the ORIGINAL PAPER LABELS on it.  Until recently this bottle had been in a collection of antique VETERINARY BOTTLES from a collector who collected for decades.  THIS EXAMPLE has a label that is not often seen, it is a different label than most of them have on them.  A great old veterinary concoction, marijuana w/ 180 proof liquor.   Another nice thing about the bottle is the picture of a horse head and cow on it, as it says 'for HORSES and CATTLE'.   And both the front and back label (back label covers much of the embossing) have "POISON" in LARGE RED LETTERS along with the SKULL and CROSSBONE images!.  All of the right stuff to make for a highly attractive antique bottle, check it out!
