This usedOberheim DX electronic drum machine in good condition served me well in my home studio, where I’mmaking room for new gear. It’s been stored, unused for about 15 years and is ingood condition. Its motherboard is dated 1984.
The unit hassome scuffs, minor scratches and is missing one of the lid retainer knurledbolts on the front - none of which affected functionality. Tuning knobs work. Drumpad buttons work fine with two notable exceptions -
The Bass drum“Loud” pad works but would benefit from refurbishment. Pressing the button atthe bottom / base of the square-shaped button worked fine for my purposes.
The whitePlay/Stop button works but would benefit from refurbishment. Pressing thebutton at the bottom / base of the square button worked fine for my purposes -I was able to record and play back drum sequences.
I did not testthe cassette recording, clock, or foot switch features; I never used them. TheCassette ‘check-play-record’ buttons do light up.
All volumesliders work.
Stock plasticside panels are in good shape; the right side panel is bowed out 1/4” - minor, cosmetic.
The DX willcome with installed EPROM chips as seen in the photo. I will also includeadditional EPROMS, some of which did not produce audio.
The DX comeswith the data backup battery that was installed when I purchased the unit usedin the mid-1990’s. The battery works; drum sequences remain stored in memory. The DX comes with a used three-prong power cable.
Notably, aprevious owner installed ten (10) 1/4” jacks on the front base of the DX asseen in the photo, each connected to various button pads. I assume this wasintended as a trigger-function. I did not use this customization and did nottest them. This is Not the MIDI add-on feature you’ll find on modified DXs.
Does not comewith written manual (you’ll find them readily available online).
This used, vintage drum machine is around 40 years old, works as described, is sold as-is,and does not come with any form of warranty. I’m glad to answer questions or share additional photos.
