NOS! Congress 4.50" OD 3/4” Fixed Bore Die-Cast V-Belt Pulley, Type A, Vintage

This listing is for one (1) 4.50" Outside Diameter, Type A, 3/4" fixed-bore die-cast V-belt pulley. This vintage new old stock pulley comes from a now closed 80-year-old neighborhood hardware store in Northeast Philadelphia.  In the original well-worn box, the unused industrial v-grooved pulley was manufactured by Congress Drives in Detroit, Michigan, in the 1950's or early 1960's.   This is a Classical Type A Pulley with a ½” wide groove.  Most pulleys manufactured today are Type A pulleys.

Please visit our eBay store at The Other Man's Store to view additional new old stock pulleys from Congress, Central Drives, Browning, and more.  We have hundreds of pulleys in stock with sizes from 1” to 16”, including variable pitch pulleys. all unused and most in the original boxes.

The following information is provided for reference:

Fixed-bore die-cast V-belt pulleys have a finished bore, or center hole, that is machined to a set diameter to insert a shaft of the same size. They are ready to install with machined keyways and/or set screws to secure the shaft and prevent slipping. These die-cast pulleys are non-corrosive, lightweight, impact-resistant, and non-toxic. They are suitable for light duty applications such as fans and blowers in HVAC applications.

To determine what type of belt is on your pulley, measure the width of the belt. Most fan belts are A type belts with a measurement of 1/2″. If the fan belt measures 5/8″ it is classified as type B belt.

The Main Types of V-belts

There are three main types of V-belts that you can use in your facility, the Classical V-belts, Narrow V series, and light-duty type:

Classical V-Belt

This is one of the most common types of V-Belts you can get out there and it has also been around for the longest period compared to the other two. The first V-belt design replaced the leather types by taking over most of their applications in industries such as agriculture, industrial, and industrial machinery.

The classical V-belts can handle loads of a wide range, up to 500 HP. They also come with impressive tolerance levels. However, we must indicate that they are not as efficient as the narrow V-belt type. Below is a cross-section presentation of Classical-V-belt designs of different sizes.
