New Australian Class: LL6 ordinary Chondrite
"New" as purchased in 2001 from Blaine Reed.
(Price at that time was 30 US dollars.)
Received at that time with seller's note:
"slice split fracture line" - seen in photographs
5.0 gm mass
Approx one inch by 3/4 inch by 1/8th inch
Found 60 km. SW of Marlinga, South Australia
Full slice - polished faces.
Shows interior well.
Crust on perimeter.
Visually interesting - chondrules - mostly darker gray in
lighter gray matrix.
Obtained and permanently stored in a membrane case.
Can be displayed on a clear acrylic easel if desired.
This specimen came from the estate of Al Havrilla, a passionate collector of meteorites who had
been a staff member at the Space Telescope Science Institute where he worked in the photo lab
until his failing health forced him to retire.
