Must have general predator! Preventative care is key!

Hippodamia convergens are native ladybugs found throughout the USA! NaturesGoodGuys (a.k.a. Soldier Bugs) pre-fed Ladybugs are the best general soldiers in any organic garden, greenhouse, grow room, patio, rooftop garden, interiorscape, or anywhere pests exist.

Adults can thrive for weeks or months in a variety of temperatures and humidities as long as they have adequate food and water. To help ladybugs stay ahead of the pest lifecycle, we suggest introducing them multiple times throughout the growing season.

WHY LADYBUGS?

  • Ladybugs are predatory in both their larval and adult stages

  • Ladybugs do the work for you. Introduce them into the desired area and watch them defeat bad bugs that damage your plants.

  • Support your backyard ecosystem! See improvements in the health of your plants without introducing harmful chemical pesticides.

  • Maximize your harvest - healthy plants produce more.

  • Natural, sustainable, and people, pet, & planet friendly.

LADYBUG FUN FACTS
  • There are over 400 species of ladybugs in North America

  • Female ladybugs will lay over 1,000 eggs in their lifetime.

  • Ladybugs protect themselves against predators by creating a chemical that tastes bad to other bugs.

  • Ladybugs hibernate during cold temperatures! During hibernation, they will survive on their stored fat (pollen).

  • Ladybugs chew from side to side rather than up and down.

  • Ladybugs beat their wings 85 times per second when they fly.

SPOT OUR LADYBUG

Our ladybugs are easy to spot! The black area behind the head has two white, “converging” lines that set them apart from other lady beetles. Our species of ladybugs are native to the USA!

Left: Convergent Ladybug (Hippodamia convergens)
Right: European 7 Spotted Ladybug (Coccinella septempunctata)

INTRODUCTION RATES

Preventative/Light: 1 ladybug per sq. ft., monthly

Moderate: 1 ladybug per sq. ft., bi-weekly, 2-3 times

Heavy: 1 ladybug per sq. ft., weekly, 2-4 times

It's important to note that these introduction rates serve as general guidelines and may vary based on the specific pest species, the crop or plant being treated, and level of infestation. Proper monitoring of the infestation and the subsequent effectiveness of the released beneficial insect population is crucial for determining the success of the biological control strategy.

INTRODUCE:
  • Introduce indoors at any time, or outdoors in the morning, evening, or on a cloudy day. Avoid direct sunlight.

  • Introduce multiple times throughout the growing season to stay ahead of the pest life cycle.

PRO TIPS
  • Power Pair - Green lacewings & ladybugs are an impressive team. They will co-exist and both feed on aphids and other soft-bodied pest insects. Lacewing larvae can consume up to 60 aphids a day.

  • Keep your beneficial insects fed and attract native bugs to your garden or farm with our Good Bug Diet - A food supplement for your good bugs that contains fats, proteins, fiber, calcium, phosphorus, sodium, amino acids, vitamins, lactose, and sucrose.

  • Introduce beneficial insects to your houseplants and potted plants with our Beneficial Insect Netting! No need to worry about your ladybugs flying around your home or grow room.

  • Proper identification of the pest species is important. Monitoring the crop closely and introducing beneficial insects early will help in control pest populations.

  • Pesticides, even wetting agents, and spreader-stickers may adversely affect beneficial insects' survival. Broad spectrum and systemic insecticides are toxic.
