Native American Plains Riding Quirt Indian Wars Period Coup Stick

For the advanced collector, here is an early riding quirt or coup stick. The wood haft is attractively designed and has a number of cast brass tacks. There are also decorative ribbons, trade cloth, and drops including a bone item at the butt end. The grip is hide wrapped and sinew sewn. The haft is 15 1/2” long and the overall length with the whip is about 39”. An exceptional piece from the 19th century.
