One of the very first digital delays made I believe, MXR really did make some crazy gear!

This one has some battle scars but works as intended.

The MXR Digital Delay Rack units, such as the MXR 113 Digital Delay, were professional-grade delay processors introduced in the early 1980s. These rack-mounted delays were designed to offer high-quality, clear digital delay effects with greater control and extended delay times compared to traditional pedal-based delays. They were a part of the digital revolution in audio effects, providing clean, repeatable echoes without the degradation associated with analog delays.

Key features of the MXR Digital Delay Rack units included:

Adjustable delay time, often ranging from milliseconds to several seconds, allowing for a variety of delay effects, from slapback echoes to long, ambient delays.

Feedback control for determining the number of repeats, which could range from subtle echoes to continuous, looping effects.

Wet/dry mix control, allowing users to blend the delayed signal with the original sound, providing full flexibility over the depth of the effect.

Multiple outputs for routing delay signals in various configurations, including stereo or mono setups.

One notable feature was the inclusion of dynamic control for modulating the delay time in real-time, which gave users the ability to create chorus or flange-like effects. The MXR 113 was capable of delay times up to 1024 milliseconds, making it suitable for a wide range of applications, from traditional guitar effects to studio production.

The rack format and build quality made the MXR digital delay units popular in professional studios and live sound environments, where their clarity, reliability, and versatility were highly valued. Today, these units are considered vintage gear, often sought after by collectors and musicians looking for classic digital effects.
