This AMERICAN MADE 1955/56 flag ship was Motorola’s very first coat pocket 5 TRANSISTOR (Texas Instruments transistors- over stamped M for Motorola) . This iconic radio revolutionized the information and the entertainment age. It is totally techno aesthetic. An example is exhibited in MOMA. This Cold War survivor is AM only and it’s in superb condition. The white grill is pristine bright white. The case backing leatherette cover looks new, the gold over metal exterior is unblemished with no pitting or lacquer blackening. The plastic handle which houses the directional ferrite antenna has no bromide yellowing and all seams are tight and the spring controlling its position is not loose. The interior label has only minor wear to the upper left corner. All printing clear and no battery leakage burn. THE BACK sports an earphone jack (untested). The rear door hinge functions and the unit closure is perfect and aligned.

The seller has yet to see a better cosmetic and functional unit. It was also offered with a black case, but cannot compare to this gold shinning gem.

The tuning dial is clear and numbers sharp. The emergency radio CONELRAD SYMBOLS are on the dial (640/1240). The bright red on/off / volume rotary dial is without any scratchiness.

The board and controls have all been treated with de-ox it 5 and the tuning capacitor bearings lubed.

The unit requires a 9 volt battery (included). Today’s batteries are slightly fatter. The seller is enclosing one which was carefully hammered flatter for a better fit. Even so!  Please zoom to see proper installation configuration and exercise care and keep other wires out of harms way.  BE CAREFUL. Don’t pinch wires and turn off before removing or replacing battery.

Enclosed is copy of SAMS PHOTO FACTS AND SERVICE GUIDE AND ADVERTISING LITERATURE COPIES.

The seller has sold many quality transistors. This is from his personal reserve.

A stunning and significant part of American Radio history. Since it's AM only, its reception can be affected by directionality and a lot of today’s RF producing entities i.e. flourescent lights, dimmers, led etc. Under the correct conditions it receives many stations clearly.

Seller has a 5.0 rating and is known for expert packing and fast shipping.

Seller is #1 on Google for MOTOROLA 1980’s DYNATAC CELL PHONES .

As per vintage electronics Niche, item sold as is, no returns and parts invisibly marked to prevent swapping.

Thanks for viewing our humble offerings of unique and quality items.

NOTE: THIS IS AN AMAZING 70 year old radio. Still stylish and functional and makes a statement in any collection or just accent piece!!!! Can you say that about most of your 70 year old friends????

Further note. The gold imprinting on the handle are complete and clear.
